Post Basic Diploma in Trauma & Emergency Nursing

(1-year Program)

This course has been designed for registered nurses who wish to acquire the clinical knowledge and expertise and pursue to work in the emergency and trauma rooms. This is a one year program which is fully recognized by The Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) and Nursing Examination Board, Punjab (NEBP). The examinations are conducted by The NEBP upon the successful completion of one year Academic and Clinical Training.

Aims & Objectives of the Course:

The aims and objectives of the course are to prepare competent nurses who will:

• Be Skilled in all aspects of Accident & Emergency Care Nursing by improving physical, social, emotional and intellectual well being of the patient

• Be able to use therapeutic communication skills and establish good relationships with the patient, family, and colleagues

• Be able to priorities patient individual needs and implement the systematic approach to enhance nursing standards

• Be able to manage and organize unit/department as per protocols

• Develop the ability to respond to changing needs in Accident & Emergency care in an analytical way

• Communicate effectively in application of nursing process in serious ill cases

• Develop knowledge and competency in the area of emergency

• Recognize the importance of holistic care of the trauma cases

• Maintain safe environment for patient and families in aspect of hazard

• Demonstrate effective use of problem solving skill in using the nursing process

• Be able to develop skill in management and act as a manger for co-worker
