Nursing encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all settings. Nursing includes the promotion of health, prevention of illness; and the care of ill, disabled and dying people. Advocacy, promotion of a safe environment, research, participation in shaping health policy, health systems management, and education are also key nursing roles.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Generic BSN) is a 4-year program offered after the completion of F.Sc. (Pre-Medical) or equivalent based on Annual System wherein the Professional Examinations are conducted by The University of Health Sciences, Lahore. Shalamar Nursing College is one of the oldest Nursing Colleges in Pakistan offering BSN Program since 2005; which is fully recognized by The Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) and accepted all around the world.

Aims & Objectives of the Course:

The aims and objectives of the course are to prepare nursing graduates who will:

• Utilize cognitive, psychomotor and affective abilities derived from the humanities and the natural, behavioral and nursing sciences to provide nursing care to individuals, families, groups, and communities

• Utilize the nursing: process to deliver safe and effective nursing care for an individual, family, group and community at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels

• Assess the ability to meet basic needs and to accomplish the activities of daily livings

• Assume responsibility for implementation of ethical, legal, socio-cultural and professional standards in the provision of nursing care

• Formulate a nursing diagnosis in relation to basic human

• Assume responsibility for implementation of ethical, legal, socio-cultural and professional standards in the provision of nursing care

• Evaluate the effectiveness of health teaching to promote health, maintain well-being and prevent illness in individuals, families, groups and communities

• Demonstrate an awareness of the role of research in nursing practice and support the research activities of others.
