Nursing encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups, and communities, sick or well, and in all settings. Nursing includes the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and the care of ill, disabled, and dying people. Advocacy, promoting a safe environment, conducting research, participating in shaping health policy, managing health systems, and providing education are also key roles for nurses.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Generic BSN) is a 4-year program offered after the completion of F.Sc. (Pre-Medical) or equivalent based on the annual system wherein the professional examinations are conducted by the University of Health Sciences, Lahore. Darmaan Nursing College is one of the oldest nursing colleges in Pakistan, offering a BSN program since 2005, which is fully recognized by the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) and accepted worldwide.

Aims & Objectives of the Course:

The aims and objectives of the course are to prepare nursing graduates who will:

• Utilize cognitive, psychomotor, and affective abilities derived from the humanities and the natural, behavioral, and nursing sciences to provide nursing care to individuals, families, groups, and communities

• Utilize the nursing process to deliver safe and effective nursing care for an individual, family, group, and community at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels

• Assess the ability to meet basic needs and to accomplish the activities of daily living.

• Assume responsibility for the implementation of ethical, legal, socio-cultural,, and professional standards in the provision of nursing care

• Formulate a nursing diagnosis in relation to basic human needs

• Assume responsibility for the implementation of ethical, legal, socio-cultural, and professional standards in the provision of nursing care

• Evaluate the effectiveness of health teaching to promote health, maintain well-being,, and prevent illness in individuals, families, groups, and communities

• Demonstrate an awareness of the role of research in nursing practice and support the research activities of others.
